The Bike Lane is going to Washington

National Bike Summit 2009

This week hundreds of bike advocates, retailers, and industry folks are heading to Washington, DC for the Annual Bike Summit.  The League of American Bicyclists  has put together a great week of meetings to learn about bicycling issues around the country.  At the end of the week everyone is ready to lobbying congress to make sure our cycling voices are heard loud and clear!  The International Mountain Biking Association will also be helping with the lobbying effort to make sure mountain bikers are at the table for increased trail funds and more access to our local and national trails.

Read this position paper (only available until 3/14)  to learn what Cyclists are asking for this week on the hill.  You can get involved too.  Call your local and state representatives and let them know that you want expanded Federal support for bicycling – for active transportation and recreation.

Throughout the week we will be posting updates on the blog or you can follow us on  Twitter!
